QUESTION:
Wiring an accessory power outlet into the bed of a truck?
I want to wire an accessory power outlet into the bed of my truck. It was originally suggested I use 10 Gage wires with a 30 amp fuse for it. I want to run things like MP3 player, ice chest, lights etc... A co- worker told me that I have to figure out how far I'm running the wires. He says that I need to figure the round trip (battery to outlet and back), and that 10 Gage wires will only be safe for about 20 amps for 15 feet. He suggests using 6 Gage wires from the battery and to add a fuse block in the back of the cab then doing the 10 Gage wire from that fuse block to the outlet. He says this will be much safer and better. I'm not wanting to get real detailed and spend hundreds of dollars on this project, I just want to be able to have some powered stuff while camping or for long trips. What is the best answer? Thanks in advance for any help.

Where is the cheapest place to buy truck accessories?
I want to buy several items. Bed extender, rear sliding window, etc... I have a 2010 Ford F150. Thank you

ANSWER:
JC Whitney used to be the cheapest, but nowdays with all the Internet sales companies out there, it's hard to tell. Try doing a google search for F-150 accessories and see what comes up. There's probably dozens of places where you can shop online and compare prices.

QUESTION:
Ideas to decorate a "monster truck" room?
My husband just purchased monster truck bedding for our 2.5 year old's "big boy" room. I'm stumped at accessories for the room. I don't want it to be overly thematic. Any ideas?
Thanks for the ideas so far! The room is blue with a white chair rail. We currently have light ("antiqued stain") wooden furniture- nightstand, bed & tall bookshelf from ikea. The quilt is from Pottery Barn Kids and is white with blue, red & green. We have lots of naked wall space, so mainly looking for ideas for that.

QUESTION:
Building truck ramps to load ATV?
Santa brought my son an ATV for Christmas...it is too heavy for me to load in the bed of my truck to take him somewhere he can ride it. I found a kit from Lund for building loading ramps out of 2"x"10" wood. http://www.autoanything.com/hitch-bed-accessories/65A3664A0A0.aspx
The problem is that to get a reasonable slope relative to the height of my pickup (Tundra crewmax), the ramps need to be at least 8' long (preferably 10' according to the instructions for the hardware). Because I have a short bed pickup, building the ramps long enough would mean at four or five feet would hang out of the truck when I transported the ramps.
My idea is this...
Would it be possible to hinge the 2x10 in the middle so the ramps would fold in half for storage and transportation? If so, what would I need to do to make sure the hinged section was capable of supporting the weight safely (e.g., making it bear the same load as the other hardware or at least strong enough to hold the weight of the atv and rider during loading)???
-
ANSWER:
Hinge the break on the top and bottom with 4 heavy duty 4" door hinges or two 10" flush mount gate hinge, use 2" long nuts and bolts, not screws, to Bolt both the hinges together on one end 1 top 1 bottom of your (a)5'-2x10 take another (b) 5'-2x10 and bolt it to (a) with countersunk 1-1/2" bolts.
Set your ramp on your truck as it would be while loading. measure the length between the joint and the ground and cut a (c)2x10 2" shorter than your measurement. Allowing the hinge to hang down, put board (c) under the ramp board (b) against the hinge on board (a)and bolt on the leg board (c) to the hanging hinge just as everything is sitting.
Viola!

QUESTION:
How will load springs effect my truck (f150)?
I'm got an f-150 (2003) and often use it to transport tools, lumber, tile, concrete. . . Often times I max out the weight in the bed to where it has very little clearance and sways badly while driving. I've been told that load springs will help it out but I didn't know anything about them. Will they raise up the truck? What rating/price should I look for? Are they a simple bolt on accessory? Any info is appreciated.
-
ANSWER:
Are you considering adding larger diameter springs? it will make the truck stop some swaying but clearly you are overloading your box. Then you will need to add a heavier shock.
Remember that truck came with an approved payload. That is based on braking as well,
Maybe you ought to consider either a HD truck or use a trailer with a heavy GVWR.
If you crash overloaded and get sued...you are dust

QUESTION:
I'm buying a used truck... is this a good deal?
My neighbor is selling his 1993 Nissan P/U Truck, it's automatic, short bed, 2WD, and has lots of accessories. Plus it gets about 24mpg
He says that he has taken really good care of it, and it's always been reliable. He's never had to do any major repairs on it, and it has 185,000 miles on it. I really like this truck, and he only wants 0 for it because he already has 3 trucks and wants to get rid of it, plus he knows me. The only problem is that the transmission is kind of old, so third gear isn't working very well. He says I can buy a used transmission with a warrenty and have someone
put it in for under 0. That means that the whole deal is less than a thousand for a good little truck, do you think I should buy it?
-
ANSWER:
I think its a good deal ,you don't get much today for a thousand bucks, just the fact you know whom your buying from your one step ahead.
I have bought and appraised thousand of cars through the years and just to make sure the truck is right for you follow this simple test I did for 30 years, study this web page on my website http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html if the Truck is still of interest contact a shop and get the price to fix the tranny before you make a final decision.
If the mechanic feels you need other work done at same time to make Truck perfect and the total cost under 00. its still a good deal.

QUESTION:
Buying My First Brand News Car, Experienced Gears Heads HELP.?
Ok I'm buying my first brand new car. In the past Ive owned a camaro, accord, prelude, ranger & a volvo s40. My current situation dictates that I get something reliable, fairly simple to work on, with AWD/ 4WD, & hopefully decent gas mileage (22-28 on the highway). I commute Monday through Friday on the highway year round in Kansas (30 miles each way) & need something that can handle heavy snow & poor road qualities.
I'm trying to decided between a small pickup truck or an AWD sedan.
Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Chevy Colorado.
or
Subaru Imprezna or Legacy.
Also as far as the pick up trucks go if anyone has suggestions on accessories for the trucks (bed covers, exhausts, intake, ect) to improve mileage and reliability. Thank You!
P.S. I've looked at early 2000 Dodge Dakotas standard cab sports as a cheap alternative if its got low mileage.
-
ANSWER:
i say go with subaru impreza-they have a four door or hatch option that will allow you to haul lots of stuff (thought not quite as much as a truck). The symmetrical awd is awesome, they get decent mileage, and all of the dealer service I have received has been excellent. They run under 19k depending on the options that you pick (also have a turbo version available that will get you within your gas mileage range as well!).

ANSWER:
You might want to look into autotrader.com. They can put a picture of your truck online, which will help show potential buyers the additions and improvements you did to it. Another method would be craigslist.com. You can list your truck there for free and then supply pictures to those who are interested. You can also use eBay motors, however if you aren't eBay experienced, I wouldn't recommend it just yet. Good luck!

QUESTION:
can i run a single power wire to run multiple accessories?
i have 4 separate externally mounted lights on my truck. on my last truck, i ran four power wires form the battery to each switch, and that was a hassle wiring each switch four times, with their own fuses. i didnt use relays because i have high power switches that are rated for more current than the lights draw. anyway, i used 14g wire previously. i am wiring the lights on my new truck and i want to know if i can run a single heavy gauge wire from the battery to the cabin and then split off power to each switch.
i cant remember that math i did to figure the amperage and all that, but i have 6 lights at 100w each, and a pair of fog lights at 55w.
i also would like to leave room for extra accessories, like small lights for the truck bed and interior lights (this truck is very stripped down and doesnt even have interior lights).
how thick of wire would i need to run to power my lights and other light accessories? i will be adding front and rear winches in the near future, not sure how to wire these or if they will be part of this wiring system.

QUESTION:
What kind of car or pick-up should I get?
I'm looking to get a new car or pick up truck.
Here are some of the things that it must have:
4 wheel drive.
Decent fuel economy.
Enough space in the trunk or bed that I can haul garbage to the dump every week.
I don't care about it being super fancy or having a bunch of accessories, I just want something reliable that I can drive to work everyday and isn't going to have transmission problems or whatever else in 2 years.
I was leaning towards a pick up truck, but if it's a car with enough of a cargo area, I'll consider that too.
Any ideas?

QUESTION:
help me decide: 2002 Ford Ranger, 65k miles, 2003 73k miles?
I am trying to buy a truck, and I have narrowed down to two:
2003 Ford Ranger, 73K miles pretty standard (eg. no bed liner, no window tinting, no security key etc).
2002 Ford Ranger, 65k miles, slightly better accessories.
Price is exactly the same, the 03 is gray, the 02 is white.
I drive about 24k miles a year.
They both look as good, but I do know that the 03 has newer components, and the 02 has fewer miles.
In my shoes, which would YOU choose?
-
ANSWER:
Try running them both through the price estimator at the Kelley Blue Book website, and see if one looks like a better deal. If you have a friend who's a mechanic, see if you can have them look at both for any potential problems. If it still looks like a wash, I'd go for the newer one.

QUESTION:
Need help on deciding what accessories for Ford F150?
My husband has a 1998 Ford F150. It is red with silver at the bottom, and it has the 3rd door and has a back seat. It was his parents vehicle and it is in really good condition. It is already paid off so he has decided to keep it. I am out of town in the truck and I have decided to "pimp it out" as some one say. It is very plain and I want to make it look better. Tomorrow I am putting pipes on it, a brake light bar, and getting it detailed. I was wanting to get a grill guard or a bull guard put on it. I am also going to change the door handle and put a spray on bed liner in it. I am wanting to see some pictures but I can't find any. I want pics of ford trucks with the grill or bull guard on it. Also, like I said, the truck is red with the silver at the bottom, should I use black or chrome for the color of my accessories?
Well Bubba, it would have been nice for you to give me a link or something. I am on the website and still searching. If you have seen what I am looking for on that site then how about a link...

QUESTION:
Hows this peice of writing???!?
Its in the middle of the first chapter, at the beggining of a new set. Could you please point out anything that has to be changed or added or deleted???
The alarm clock had been smacked and thrown of the drawers. Joanne got up and looked around her bed for the clock. She finaly found it and looked at it. It read ’11:15 am’. She gasped and ran to the bathroom. She noticed that most of the things had already been packed.
She took her toothbrush and started brushing quickly and could hear her dad and his wife and Jaclyn cleaning up the breakfast table. She showered quickly and wore jeans over her favorite blue top and ran down. “Good morning Jo!” Joanne…! J-O-A-N-N-E, she thought, annoyed.
“Good morning...um…mom!” “Breakfast is waiting on the table”, she said sweetly.
She hovered to the table and sat down. She felt angry that no one woke her up etly.early, though she kept reminding her dad and ‘mom’ the whole night after the ‘last dinner’.
Maybe you should give her a chance. She’s trying really hard, her inner self told her. Ever since her real mum died, she never wanted to share that kind of relationship with anyone else. Even Helen Jonas. Jonas, not Louis, she thought again.
She ate her ham sandwich and a glass of orange juice. “Jacy told me that you love orange juice, so I made a glass myself…specially for you!” she said as she arranged the boxes of kitchenware. “Wow, that’s really…nice of you.”, she replied, trying not to sound ignorant.
She drank it all in one gulp and hurried up to her room. She looked around. There were boxes piled at the corner, filled with her stuff. She then grabbed a suitcase and started packing her clothes and her accessories in a big sports bag. She epmptied her drawers and then she turned and saw Helen standing by the door. “Hi!” “um…hi!” “Help?” She looked around her room and turned back to Helen. “Sure. I need help with the bedding.”
She came towards the bed with a smile and helped her take the mattress down where all the big stuff had been piled. “Thankyou!” “Don’t mention it!” She went out the garage where dad was and then helped him load the stuff.
She stepped outside the house. She looked around at the neighborhood. Quite and pretty little houses stood, watching her. She had lived there for 17 years, since she was born. She walked around the house, looking in all directions. The beautiful rose and lily flower beds her mother had planted in front of the front porch.
Then to the west of the house stood a tall (need help with name!) tree right outside her window, where she once made a little birfeeder and a bird bath on the third branch. She went towards the backyard, where she and her best friends Carly, Liz and Beth had once had a sleepover in a big tent right here.
She moved to the other side where the big bright garage stood. She remembered when the whole family had once painted the outside walls of the garage. All those memories of her and her family made joanne’s nose twitch and burn and a lump of emotions form in her throat.
Then she heard a loud rimbling noise and saw a huge truck come up in front of her street. “They were supposed to arrive an hour earlier.” her dad complained. Wow! If they had, what would have become of me! She thought. “Well, its good that they came late or else we had to leave half our furniture back here!” Helen exclaimed. Just a coincidence, joanne thought.
Just then she heard Carly calling her. Her dark brown curls bounced all the way and there was a bright glow on her olive skin. She had a glint in her light brown eyes and her rosy lips were beamed in a beautiful smile. She ran up to her and then hugged her a big long lasting hug. She then let go of joanne, who had her mouth open.
“What?” Carly asked, annoyed by her expression. “I think that’s the first time you ever came running to me like that to give me a hug!” Joanne said in a playful voice. Carly chuckled and reached out into her pockets. She then tool out a light lavender bracelet made of small circle and square glass beads. She pulled out joanne’s hand and put in her palm. Joanne picked it up and stared at it in wonder.
Please dont hold back anything!! Anyway, what would be your reaction if i told you that its my first book and i'm 12 yrs old??

QUESTION:
I had a bizarre dream. What does it mean?
Ok I had a dream that I went to visit a someone ( I haven't a clue who they are, but it felt relative-ish). I never did see they're face, but I remember spending the night in a room upstairs. the bed faced a different way than I'm used to and it was next to a window ( also not used to) . there was no curtains and I could see a huge tree with no leaves outside. I couldn't sleep.
So next day Im at a festival with my friend Morgan and her husband, we stop at a booth that had neat goth Accessories, but I didn't buy anything because I couldn't find anything I liked.
Then a Christmas toy parade started to come through the festival. After the parade, Santa Clause said he had gifts on a truck (I was like 30ft from it and I notice that there were alot of Mexican kids there and not nearly enough toys. So I book it over to the truck and get a free toy for my son (he was with grandma on the other side the parade). I got a really good one!
Right next to the truck was some cool train sets, but they didn't end up being the free toy. A Mexican lady just happened to be selling them right there, so I bought one. it was only like , but when I set down the train to get the money out, another mexican lady snatched it up thinking it was free toy from santa. So I hurry up and pay and go running after this lady and shes acting like she didn't understand.
So I tel her "Este mi huegetes!" ( its my toy!) and I snatch it from her.
I was ready to fight her for it but she walked away.
I go back the the apartment to put it in a safe place. I hadn't noticed before but there was no furniture in it, the walls were all off white, and it was huge. About 3 stories with high ceiling in the living room. the design was kind of "modern adobe" . There were stairs inside the condo, but the weird part was the little adobe flight of stair leading to a crawl space in the living room. there was no door, just an opening.
I went in it because I was curious and it was a little passage inter-connecting all the apts. some entrances had decorations on there opening within the passageway. One had a sign that said "party's in here".
I though that was weird so I headed back. I notice the passage had more stairwell in it and went to other places like the roof and different floors. Anyhoo I get back, and moments later I see a teenager at the passage entrance. he begged for food and I had gotten some tamales at the festival so I gave him one.
I went outside to leave and noticed it was getting dark. As I was getting into the back seat of the (person that im visiting and have no idea what they look like's) car, I see the kid I just fed with like 8 other kids and a mom walking through the parking lot pan handling. I do nothing and get in the car.
Ok , what does it all mean?
omg...i really did eat a cheap frozen pizza O.o
before i went to bed ....lol

The first paragraph...is of a guardian... one of your house maybe a Mixture of them.By your house I mean your family members passed on, you may have never even meet them, to me and me alone a empty house and a dead tree represents death, or a meeting place between life and the after.
You where not comfortable and nether weer they.
You manifested allot of your physical reality in the dream signaling discomfort and a inability to relax in your new environment.
The discomfort can also be related to your physical reality in your house a shift in your status.
*your roommate* in reality.
Near death experiences.
Paragraph two...
Your friends, you wont to be with them but are looking for growth in your common interest.
3.Your son means allot to you and you wont him to be happy...at the drop of a hat you are willing to fight for him like a good mother should...
4.I dream of houses and apartments too, again this seams to be part of your past a safe place you have constructed inside your mind when you need a place to retreat. they grow with age.
5.You live in a community in the real world and with in your self.
"party's in here" drugs or sex was behind that sine. You are moving away from that and looking for something deeper in your life or at least at that moment. you seam to be exploring this place and your self, the child was your return to your motherly urges to protect and help your son.
6. I wont to say day care, and a feeling of wanting to help but you are protected and know they will be ok.
Their is a need to move foreword.

QUESTION:
What is a good brand for truck bed covers?
I have a 1991 Toyota Truck that I want to get a bed cover for, but seeing as this is the first truck that I've ever owned, I don't know very many trusted brand names for accessories haha. What are some quality brands?
-
ANSWER:
I've had a lot of different covers over the years and the last two I bought were from USA: http://www.truckcoversusa.com/html/covers.html
I bought my first one when I saw a demonstration where two guys stood on the cover and bounced up and down and it didn't do any damage. Of all the covers it's definitely the strongest as well as providing the best water proofing of any I've had. When not needed it rolls up into a small canister.

QUESTION:
How's this peice of writing?
“Good morning...um…mom!” “Breakfast is waiting on the table”, she said in a sweet way.
She hovered to the table and sat down. She felt angry that no one woke her up early, though she kept reminding her dad and ‘mom’ the whole night after the ‘last dinner’.
“Thankyou!” “Don’t mention it!” She tp the garage where dad was and then helped him load the stuff.
She stepped outside the house. She looked arounf at the neighborhood. Quite and pretty little houses stood, watching her. She had lived there for 17 years, since she was born. She walked around the house, looking in all directions. The beautiful rose and lily flower beds her mother had planted in front of the front porch.
Then to the west of the house stood a tall ------ tree right outside her window, where she once made a little birfeeder and a bird bath on the 3 branch.
“They were supposed to arrive an hour earlier.” Wow!

ANSWER:
It's good for a kid, but there is an awful lot of mistakes, too many to correct. Suggest you proof read it yourself and make corrections. Read it aloud to yourself or have someone else read it aloud - it's easier to find mistakes that way.
