  18. QUESTION:
Where would I go to get an accessory belt on my '88 Honda Accord replaced?
Would I need to go to a shop? Or would an auto-parts store be able to guide me through it? I'm really not all that car savvy. Ya know?

    • ANSWER:
No offense to ALL parts stores, but I wouldn't listen to advice from the ones I have been into. Its not really the the easiest job since you have to tighten the belts to the proper tension. Too loose, they make noise. Too tight, and you will wear out bearing of the driven units prematurely. This takes a little experience to do it properly. See if a friend with a little more experience can help. I would also make sure that you replace all the drive belts at one time instead of just replacing one.

  21. QUESTION:
Gas savings with air filters and intakes, advertise with flyers?
Hi! We run a web based company that sells many performance auto parts and accessories. But online sales have been VERY slow lately. What do you think of the idea of a flyer to put on cars and maybe doorknobs of houses detailing our reusable hgh flow filters and how much gas they can save the average person? I know flyers can be annoying, but we are not selling some gimic. The filter pays for itself in gas savings in about 2 to 3 months time, and you also never have to buy another filter!

How do you think the flyers will go over? Would it be worth the trouble? Will people wanting to save gas (which should be about everyone these days) take notice and purchase?

Any feedback / ideas is MUCH APPRECIATED!

    • ANSWER:
Offline marketing for online businesses can be very profitable, but you will only be targeting your local area and not the masses that have access to your website over the Internet.

Consider taking out advertising on websites within your industry and contacting bloggers to review your website and comment on your service.

When you have new products/applications, issue a press release to trade magazines and websites - get people talking.

If you are dead cert about printing up some flyers, what about getting in touch with local automart magazines and mail drop companies and have your flyer included with their service.
Contact regional automotive organisations and include flyers in their membership packs and literature.

it's for my b/f birthday and I want it to be a surprise...I need to know all the accessories/ parts and what it's gonna run and which is better autozone, Kragen or pep boys?
or I need to get a msd ignition
which would be cheaper to get the ignition or the intake?

    • ANSWER:
Cheaper? What if I was your boyfriend Kelly? I'm just kidding, but be careful! Well, I see, it's because you wanted to get the more expensive one, right?

I think the cost of the items you mentioned are probably pretty close. I think you'd be a lot happier or actually he would be a lot happier with the ignition system. It certainly is a better upgrade them the cold air intake and will also make a greater difference in performance.
      Great gift, thanks.

Call information for the store numbers and do your shopping by phone. Remember to ask each one if they have the lowest price guarantee. I'm pretty sure one of them does.

  26. QUESTION:
Are car care accessories, oil, coolant, etc. gonna be more expensive at a regular store or auto parts store?
By a regular store, I could mean a grocery store that also has a Pharmacy and office supplies, car stuff, magazines, etc., or a gas station, or whatever. By an auto parts store, I don't mean one that sells just auto parts. The ones I've been to sell everything car-related. What I'm getting at here is, is a place that sells all car stuff gonna charge you more cuz that's where you'd go to get everything you need for your car or would a regular store charge you more cuz that's not their most popular items?

    • ANSWER:
I know for a fact that a quart of oil is cheaper at an auto parts store; Auto Zone, Pep Boys than at a gas station and probably the other places you mentioned as well. Plus you have more options for all those products at the auto parts store.
So, to narrow it down, a regular store can and will charge more because if you're buying it there, it is most likely something you need right then and you pretty much have to get it. You know, the core pricniple of economics; supply and demand.

  30. QUESTION:
    Full Auto regulations in US?
Most guns are tracked by the receiver. You can buy magazines, replacements barrels and all sorts of stuff without buying a "gun" as long as there is no receiver. My question is though, if receivers are what is considered a gun and pretty much all other parts are considered accessories, what does a trigger group count as? The difference between an AR-15 and an M-16 is the trigger group. Are full auto-trigger groups regulated differently that semi-auto trigger groups? Since you can change out accessory parts without a background check or anything it seems you could change the trigger group if it isn't regulated by trigger group. Or does that effect how it is registered, since you are changing the type of weapon? I don't understand this very well, pretty confusing. It seems that it would be more logical to track guns by trigger assembly serial number rather than reciever serial number. Please explain.

    • ANSWER:
The trigger group does not determine if the weapon is full-auto in most instances, the receiver is the determining factor (M1 carbines being the most common exception but you still need ALL the select-fire parts in order for it to work). You can put some full-auto parts into an AR-15 lower receiver but unless that receiver has been modified to accept ALL the parts it won't work, same for an AK-47, there is more to automatic/select-fire weapons than you think. Select-fire weapons usually have more fire control parts than their semi-auto only counterparts and the receivers are substantially different (in most cases) to accommodate those parts such as extra clearances and holes for auto sears and sear disconnects and the pins that hold them in place. Most weapons cannot be converted safely (or legally) to accept the full-auto parts and that is why there isn't a lot of concern about the "trigger group".
The only legal way to convert a semi-auto to a select-fire is to get a Class II weapons manufacturers SOT stamp from the BATFE, but that license isn't easy or cheap to get and maintain.

To Beavizard: Your statement is incorrect about being in possesion of an unregistered machine gun. I have a very early, %100 stock Colt AR-15/SP-1 (semi-auto) that came from the factory with a full-auto bolt carrier, that part alone DOES NOT constitute an "unregistered machinegun"- I've asked, the agent said don't worry about it. They only pursue that if someone has intentionally converted or tried to convert a weapon and they find out about it and/or they find that you have criminal intent to modify a weapon with parts/tools on hand for illegal purposes (i.e. gang members, bank robbers, radical religious groups, postal workers, etc.). The BATFE recognizes that there are a lot of weapons that have full-auto parts in them, examples are the Springfield M1A (semi-auto only M-14) and the FAL to name a few. Those weapons retain almost all their select-fire parts but the receiver cannot accept the parts that are missing and you don't see the BATFE kicking the doors down to confiscate them and prosecute us - yet.

  38. QUESTION:
Where can I find a window mounting device(suction cups/bracket) for a "Early Warning EW-3100" radar detector?
A universal mounting bracket device would be fine also. I'd prefer if you know of a store (Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, etc.) that sells one, but I will also happily take any websites that may sell them (like maybe as an accessory). Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I suggest that you consider a radar detector visor holder, which will hold your radar detector up and out of sight. Here is one example, but there may be others: http://www.1stradardetectors.com/Accessories/Visor-Radar-Detector-Holder/index.php

  39. QUESTION:
What is auto repair shops' policy with "new problems" that arise after a previous job?
I have a Hyundai Sonata '01 which I took to a Hyundai dealer to have a pulsating problem fixed. Apart from that problem, they recommended that the timing belt and tensioner be changed too on the side because the vehicle had 60k miles.

But, after that belt job was done (which took almost 150 bucks), from the next day, there has been a repeating hissing sound (a sound like a slick belt rubbing across a rough surface) from the front of the car, which occurs when I start the car and disappears after 20 minutes of driving.

My question is: since this new sound was nonexistent when I turned in the car, and it started as soon as my car was returned, the repair shop/dealer should be responsible for the cost of repairing the new problem - is that right by generally accepted policy/standards in the repair business?

As for the repair guys, they say the accessory belt may need to be replaced and that I have to pay for the labor/parts.

    • ANSWER:
It depends on how closely related the problems are. Say you take your car in for a brake job, and the next day you have transmission problems. One has nothing to do with the other. That's not the shop's responsibility. Same job, only the next day the right front tire comes off. That is the shop's responsibility, because they didn't properly tighten the lug nuts after they fixed your brakes.

Shop owners are businesspeople. They know that word of mouth can kill their business, most of them are willing to work with you, if the problem falls into a gray area. They don't stay in business buy giving their work away, and they don't stay in business by ripping people off. If it had mileage on it, they should have replaced the belt at the time they did the timing belt, since they had to take it off anyway. Maybe you can get them to comp the labor if you buy the new belt. That's fair.

  47. QUESTION:
Anybody know a good theme for an older semi-classic truck?
It's a '77 Ford 4x4. I've dropped in a 351 big block and I've found 32x11.50's to put on it. I don't need nothing too big or fancy on the outside, but the local auto parts store sells accessories from shifter knobs (it's a stick w/granny) to floor mats to vinyl stickers and all kinds of goodies. Of course, I can always get things over the internet. I plan on keeping the truck the original bright orange color. I was wondering what kind of theme, if any, I should do the insides. Give me your opinion. Being's it's my first vehicle, I'd like something somewhat fancy but not too much. After all, it's also my work/play truck. I was also thinking about swapping out the bench seat for a couple bucket seats and a little console? Since it's a stick and the 2nd/4th/R gear's don't have much hand room between the seat.

    Whew. Thanks for the opinion
I had orginally planned on going chrome, but now I'm seriously thinking about it. I've had a fake chrome pair of horns you find on older cadillac's I was toying with putting on the front hood. I was also thinking about going with a chrome skull theme, with door locks, gear knob, chain steering wheel, a brakelight skull that fits in your hitch, and a light-up cig lighter. Too cheesy? Or is there anything somewhat similar but without all the death gaaahh killkillkill theme?

    • ANSWER:
Buckets, love the engine. Go with whatever color you like, they all look pretty damn good. Go with a chrome based theme. It serves very well on older pick ups. Hope you find this helpful.

  49. QUESTION:
Would anyone be interested in a FULLY Custom car that almost anyone could build and make thier own parts for?
With the domestic car companies struggling with foreign automakers, you would think design and competition would force truly unique designs. Isnt it time that someone re-think the definition of a car is as we know it? The average person cant work on one anymore. The more time goes by, the more and more designs and small breakthroughs are copied by all the manufacturers. In this day you can have custom cases for your cell phone, your computer. You have a whole auto accessory aftermarket offering consumers ways of making thier ordainary car look unordainary. Why dont we change the way cars are built on the molecular level? Build a very simple shell that is super easy to build and work on. And using a basic template, purchase your own custom body panels and engines... etc without having to buy a pre-assembled car with all the parts you dont want? Why hasnt someone thought of this yet?

    • ANSWER:
I think the big problem is having a car certified to meet the many government safety specs and fuel economy specs. That is a big barrier for anyone intending to try to market a new car.

  50. QUESTION:
If I take off my car's tires, does the remaining mainframe count as an autopart?
ebay has this deal where they give bonus bucks if you sell stuff in their "autoparts/accessories" category, but not for stuff in the "motor vehicles category."
I was wondering if I could just take off my cars wheels and sell the wheels and the frame separately to the same person in two different contracts so that technically, the two items are considered auto parts, thereby getting me the ebay promotional
    will this work?

Texting and Driving

The other day, I saw a commercial regarding using your cell phone while driving. Only a few years ago, cell phones were practically non-existent, only being utilized by corporate executives and people who had the resources to have “car phones”. However, now, cell phones have gotten out of control. First, there were people getting into accidents because they were talking on their cell phones too much and not paying attention to the road. Now the problem isn't so much that people are talking on their cell phones. Rather, the problem is stemming from people using their cell phones to send and receive text messages while they are driving.

On a recent talk show, Dr. Phil had a young lady and her mother on to talk about her problem with driving while using her cell phone. As it turned out, this young lady had been involved in several near-accidents and had received numerous citations from police officers because of her reckless driving. So, what was the cause of all of this? Text messaging.

While there are plenty of adults or people over the age of 18 who use the text messaging capability on their cell phones, the main demographic for those who abuse the text messaging while driving are those who fall in between the ages of 16 and 25 years of age. This is even more dangerous because the very people who are text messaging while driving are those who have the least experience driving. The last thing that anyone should be doing when they are driving is using their cell phone in any capacity. In fact, when you are driving, you should turn your cell phone to silent or turn it off all together and store it out of sight so that you are not tempted to look at or use it.

In the state of New York, there are now billboards that warn against using your cell phone to send text messages right alongside billboards that remind drivers to use hands-free devices when they talk on their cell phones. And as for the police officers, the police are taking it very seriously. On my way to Long Island from North Carolina, I was driving on the Southern State Parkway and saw a police officer pull a person over who had just been using their cell phone. Additionally, my own father was pulled over three times in the course of one year and was issued a citation for talking on his cell phone without a hands-free device- my own father who should have known better!

When I asked my father what happened regarding being pulled over for talking on his cell phone, he claimed that he had his cell phone on speaker and asked the officer for a break because he was using the speaker option. However, the cop wouldn't let him off because despite the fact that he had his cell phone on speaker, he still had the phone in one of his hands, which meant that he didn't have both hands on the wheel.

Truck Bed Accessory

Action Car And Truck Accessories

Action Car and Truck Accessories is Canadas leading accessory distributor, retailing aftermarket products at affordable prices. With locations across Atlantic Canada, Action carries a wide variety of fleet accessories, car accessories, van accessories, truck accessories, and commercial accessories. Some of these include truck bed liners, floor mats, custom wheels, truck caps, truck hitches, hidden hitches, tonneau covers, truck wheels, trailer hitches, snow plows, lift kits, and recovery straps! When used properly, recovery straps can come in very handy, eliminating the need to call for a tow truck. If used incorrectly, however, recovery straps could present some hazards.

Before you actually put your recovery strap to use, you should inspect it to ensure it is in good condition, with no rips, frays, or broken stitching. Check that the hardware youre attaching the strap to is free of rust and other damage. If possible, attach the recovery strap to the recovering vehicles rear end. Dont ever attach a recovery strap to a vehicles bumpers, axles, suspension, steering rods, or trailer hitch ball. The point of attachment must be to a secure place on the vehicles frame. To protect the strap from sustaining any damage, remove all logs and large rocks from the recovery path. In case a malfunction occurs, stand clear of the recovery strap while its in use. When pulling another vehicle, the recovering vehicle should be driven very slowly. Any sudden pulls could lead to damage to either of the vehicles or the strap. Once the vehicle has been safely recovered, inspect the recovery strap to make sure it didnt sustain any damage. When not in use, store your recovery strap out of sunlight and away from heat. Its very important to keep your recovery strap clean so that it keeps its strength!

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Wiring an accessory power outlet into the bed of a truck?
I want to wire an accessory power outlet into the bed of my truck. It was originally suggested I use 10 Gage wires with a 30 amp fuse for it. I want to run things like MP3 player, ice chest, lights etc... A co- worker told me that I have to figure out how far I'm running the wires. He says that I need to figure the round trip (battery to outlet and back), and that 10 Gage wires will only be safe for about 20 amps for 15 feet. He suggests using 6 Gage wires from the battery and to add a fuse block in the back of the cab then doing the 10 Gage wire from that fuse block to the outlet. He says this will be much safer and better. I'm not wanting to get real detailed and spend hundreds of dollars on this project, I just want to be able to have some powered stuff while camping or for long trips. What is the best answer? Thanks in advance for any help.

    • ANSWER:
You're not pulling that much power, 10 ga. all the way with a fuse link would be fine. I've seen kits with 2ga that would pull everything from Jumper cables, to power house winches.

  9. QUESTION:
Building truck ramps to load ATV?
Santa brought my son an ATV for Christmas...it is too heavy for me to load in the bed of my truck to take him somewhere he can ride it. I found a kit from Lund for building loading ramps out of 2"x"10" wood. http://www.autoanything.com/hitch-bed-accessories/65A3664A0A0.aspx

The problem is that to get a reasonable slope relative to the height of my pickup (Tundra crewmax), the ramps need to be at least 8' long (preferably 10' according to the instructions for the hardware). Because I have a short bed pickup, building the ramps long enough would mean at four or five feet would hang out of the truck when I transported the ramps.

    My idea is this...

Would it be possible to hinge the 2x10 in the middle so the ramps would fold in half for storage and transportation? If so, what would I need to do to make sure the hinged section was capable of supporting the weight safely (e.g., making it bear the same load as the other hardware or at least strong enough to hold the weight of the atv and rider during loading)???

    • ANSWER:
Hinge the break on the top and bottom with 4 heavy duty 4" door hinges or two 10" flush mount gate hinge, use 2" long nuts and bolts, not screws, to Bolt both the hinges together on one end 1 top 1 bottom of your (a)5'-2x10 take another (b) 5'-2x10 and bolt it to (a) with countersunk 1-1/2" bolts.
Set your ramp on your truck as it would be while loading. measure the length between the joint and the ground and cut a (c)2x10 2" shorter than your measurement. Allowing the hinge to hang down, put board (c) under the ramp board (b) against the hinge on board (a)and bolt on the leg board (c) to the hanging hinge just as everything is sitting.

      Viola!

  12. QUESTION:
How will load springs effect my truck (f150)?
I'm got an f-150 (2003) and often use it to transport tools, lumber, tile, concrete. . . Often times I max out the weight in the bed to where it has very little clearance and sways badly while driving. I've been told that load springs will help it out but I didn't know anything about them. Will they raise up the truck? What rating/price should I look for? Are they a simple bolt on accessory? Any info is appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
Are you considering adding larger diameter springs? it will make the truck stop some swaying but clearly you are overloading your box. Then you will need to add a heavier shock.
Remember that truck came with an approved payload. That is based on braking as well,
Maybe you ought to consider either a HD truck or use a trailer with a heavy GVWR.
If you crash overloaded and get sued...you are dust

  13. QUESTION:
Pickup truck with small cab, where can i put subs? ?
I am considering fixing up my parents old dodge dakota so i have something to drive. The first problem is, it's hideous. I plan on giving it a new paint job, some accessories and doing my best to give the interior a boost. Any ideas? But anyway, if i go through with this, i will be extremely interested in putting in some subs. The problem is, where to put them. I dont want to put them in the truck bed, i want them in the cab so they dont get stolen, but where? The cab is bench style suited for three people. Also, Im conflicted about where the control panel will go. Any info on affordable good quality subs would be appreciated aswell.

  14. QUESTION:
I'm buying a used truck... is this a good deal?
My neighbor is selling his 1993 Nissan P/U Truck, it's automatic, short bed, 2WD, and has lots of accessories. Plus it gets about 24mpg :) He says that he has taken really good care of it, and it's always been reliable. He's never had to do any major repairs on it, and it has 185,000 miles on it. I really like this truck, and he only wants 0 for it because he already has 3 trucks and wants to get rid of it, plus he knows me. The only problem is that the transmission is kind of old, so third gear isn't working very well. He says I can buy a used transmission with a warrenty and have someone
put it in for under 0. That means that the whole deal is less than a thousand for a good little truck, do you think I should buy it?

    • ANSWER:
I think its a good deal ,you don't get much today for a thousand bucks, just the fact you know whom your buying from your one step ahead.

I have bought and appraised thousand of cars through the years and just to make sure the truck is right for you follow this simple test I did for 30 years, study this web page on my website http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html if the Truck is still of interest contact a shop and get the price to fix the tranny before you make a final decision.

If the mechanic feels you need other work done at same time to make Truck perfect and the total cost under 00. its still a good deal.

  15. QUESTION:
Buying My First Brand News Car, Experienced Gears Heads HELP.?
Ok I'm buying my first brand new car. In the past Ive owned a camaro, accord, prelude, ranger & a volvo s40. My current situation dictates that I get something reliable, fairly simple to work on, with AWD/ 4WD, & hopefully decent gas mileage (22-28 on the highway). I commute Monday through Friday on the highway year round in Kansas (30 miles each way) & need something that can handle heavy snow & poor road qualities.

I'm trying to decided between a small pickup truck or an AWD sedan.

Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Chevy Colorado.
    or
    Subaru Imprezna or Legacy.

Also as far as the pick up trucks go if anyone has suggestions on accessories for the trucks (bed covers, exhausts, intake, ect) to improve mileage and reliability. Thank You!

P.S. I've looked at early 2000 Dodge Dakotas standard cab sports as a cheap alternative if its got low mileage.

    • ANSWER:
i say go with subaru impreza-they have a four door or hatch option that will allow you to haul lots of stuff (thought not quite as much as a truck). The symmetrical awd is awesome, they get decent mileage, and all of the dealer service I have received has been excellent. They run under 19k depending on the options that you pick (also have a turbo version available that will get you within your gas mileage range as well!).

    • ANSWER:
You might want to look into autotrader.com. They can put a picture of your truck online, which will help show potential buyers the additions and improvements you did to it. Another method would be craigslist.com. You can list your truck there for free and then supply pictures to those who are interested. You can also use eBay motors, however if you aren't eBay experienced, I wouldn't recommend it just yet. Good luck!

  19. QUESTION:
can i run a single power wire to run multiple accessories?
i have 4 separate externally mounted lights on my truck. on my last truck, i ran four power wires form the battery to each switch, and that was a hassle wiring each switch four times, with their own fuses. i didnt use relays because i have high power switches that are rated for more current than the lights draw. anyway, i used 14g wire previously. i am wiring the lights on my new truck and i want to know if i can run a single heavy gauge wire from the battery to the cabin and then split off power to each switch.

i cant remember that math i did to figure the amperage and all that, but i have 6 lights at 100w each, and a pair of fog lights at 55w.

i also would like to leave room for extra accessories, like small lights for the truck bed and interior lights (this truck is very stripped down and doesnt even have interior lights).

how thick of wire would i need to run to power my lights and other light accessories? i will be adding front and rear winches in the near future, not sure how to wire these or if they will be part of this wiring system.

What kind of car or pick-up should I get?
I'm looking to get a new car or pick up truck.
Here are some of the things that it must have:

    4 wheel drive.

    Decent fuel economy.

Enough space in the trunk or bed that I can haul garbage to the dump every week.

I don't care about it being super fancy or having a bunch of accessories, I just want something reliable that I can drive to work everyday and isn't going to have transmission problems or whatever else in 2 years.
I was leaning towards a pick up truck, but if it's a car with enough of a cargo area, I'll consider that too.
    Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
A Toyota pick-up would be very reliable and also fuel efficient. If the price for a new one is out of range, consider buying a used Toyota truck from a reputable dealer. My father still has a 1972 Toyota pick-up. They last.

help me decide: 2002 Ford Ranger, 65k miles, 2003 73k miles?
I am trying to buy a truck, and I have narrowed down to two:
2003 Ford Ranger, 73K miles pretty standard (eg. no bed liner, no window tinting, no security key etc).
2002 Ford Ranger, 65k miles, slightly better accessories.
Price is exactly the same, the 03 is gray, the 02 is white.
    I drive about 24k miles a year.
They both look as good, but I do know that the 03 has newer components, and the 02 has fewer miles.
In my shoes, which would YOU choose?

    • ANSWER:
Try running them both through the price estimator at the Kelley Blue Book website, and see if one looks like a better deal. If you have a friend who's a mechanic, see if you can have them look at both for any potential problems. If it still looks like a wash, I'd go for the newer one.

Need help on deciding what accessories for Ford F150?
My husband has a 1998 Ford F150. It is red with silver at the bottom, and it has the 3rd door and has a back seat. It was his parents vehicle and it is in really good condition. It is already paid off so he has decided to keep it. I am out of town in the truck and I have decided to "pimp it out" as some one say. It is very plain and I want to make it look better. Tomorrow I am putting pipes on it, a brake light bar, and getting it detailed. I was wanting to get a grill guard or a bull guard put on it. I am also going to change the door handle and put a spray on bed liner in it. I am wanting to see some pictures but I can't find any. I want pics of ford trucks with the grill or bull guard on it. Also, like I said, the truck is red with the silver at the bottom, should I use black or chrome for the color of my accessories?

  30. QUESTION:
    Hows this peice of writing???!?
Its in the middle of the first chapter, at the beggining of a new set. Could you please point out anything that has to be changed or added or deleted???

The alarm clock had been smacked and thrown of the drawers. Joanne got up and looked around her bed for the clock. She finaly found it and looked at it. It read ’11:15 am’. She gasped and ran to the bathroom. She noticed that most of the things had already been packed.
She took her toothbrush and started brushing quickly and could hear her dad and his wife and Jaclyn cleaning up the breakfast table. She showered quickly and wore jeans over her favorite blue top and ran down. “Good morning Jo!” Joanne…! J-O-A-N-N-E, she thought, annoyed.

“Good morning...um…mom!” “Breakfast is waiting on the table”, she said sweetly.
She hovered to the table and sat down. She felt angry that no one woke her up etly.early, though she kept reminding her dad and ‘mom’ the whole night after the ‘last dinner’.

Maybe you should give her a chance. She’s trying really hard, her inner self told her. Ever since her real mum died, she never wanted to share that kind of relationship with anyone else. Even Helen Jonas. Jonas, not Louis, she thought again.

She ate her ham sandwich and a glass of orange juice. “Jacy told me that you love orange juice, so I made a glass myself…specially for you!” she said as she arranged the boxes of kitchenware. “Wow, that’s really…nice of you.”, she replied, trying not to sound ignorant.

She drank it all in one gulp and hurried up to her room. She looked around. There were boxes piled at the corner, filled with her stuff. She then grabbed a suitcase and started packing her clothes and her accessories in a big sports bag. She epmptied her drawers and then she turned and saw Helen standing by the door. “Hi!” “um…hi!” “Help?” She looked around her room and turned back to Helen. “Sure. I need help with the bedding.”

She came towards the bed with a smile and helped her take the mattress down where all the big stuff had been piled. “Thankyou!” “Don’t mention it!” She went out the garage where dad was and then helped him load the stuff.

She stepped outside the house. She looked around at the neighborhood. Quite and pretty little houses stood, watching her. She had lived there for 17 years, since she was born. She walked around the house, looking in all directions. The beautiful rose and lily flower beds her mother had planted in front of the front porch.

Then to the west of the house stood a tall (need help with name!) tree right outside her window, where she once made a little birfeeder and a bird bath on the third branch. She went towards the backyard, where she and her best friends Carly, Liz and Beth had once had a sleepover in a big tent right here.

She moved to the other side where the big bright garage stood. She remembered when the whole family had once painted the outside walls of the garage. All those memories of her and her family made joanne’s nose twitch and burn and a lump of emotions form in her throat.

Then she heard a loud rimbling noise and saw a huge truck come up in front of her street. “They were supposed to arrive an hour earlier.” her dad complained. Wow! If they had, what would have become of me! She thought. “Well, its good that they came late or else we had to leave half our furniture back here!” Helen exclaimed. Just a coincidence, joanne thought.

Just then she heard Carly calling her. Her dark brown curls bounced all the way and there was a bright glow on her olive skin. She had a glint in her light brown eyes and her rosy lips were beamed in a beautiful smile. She ran up to her and then hugged her a big long lasting hug. She then let go of joanne, who had her mouth open.

“What?” Carly asked, annoyed by her expression. “I think that’s the first time you ever came running to me like that to give me a hug!” Joanne said in a playful voice. Carly chuckled and reached out into her pockets. She then tool out a light lavender bracelet made of small circle and square glass beads. She pulled out joanne’s hand and put in her palm. Joanne picked it up and stared at it in wonder.

  31. QUESTION:
I had a bizarre dream. What does it mean?
Ok I had a dream that I went to visit a someone ( I haven't a clue who they are, but it felt relative-ish). I never did see they're face, but I remember spending the night in a room upstairs. the bed faced a different way than I'm used to and it was next to a window ( also not used to) . there was no curtains and I could see a huge tree with no leaves outside. I couldn't sleep.

So next day Im at a festival with my friend Morgan and her husband, we stop at a booth that had neat goth Accessories, but I didn't buy anything because I couldn't find anything I liked.

Then a Christmas toy parade started to come through the festival. After the parade, Santa Clause said he had gifts on a truck (I was like 30ft from it and I notice that there were alot of Mexican kids there and not nearly enough toys. So I book it over to the truck and get a free toy for my son (he was with grandma on the other side the parade). I got a really good one!
Right next to the truck was some cool train sets, but they didn't end up being the free toy. A Mexican lady just happened to be selling them right there, so I bought one. it was only like , but when I set down the train to get the money out, another mexican lady snatched it up thinking it was free toy from santa. So I hurry up and pay and go running after this lady and shes acting like she didn't understand.
So I tel her "Este mi huegetes!" ( its my toy!) and I snatch it from her.
I was ready to fight her for it but she walked away.

I go back the the apartment to put it in a safe place. I hadn't noticed before but there was no furniture in it, the walls were all off white, and it was huge. About 3 stories with high ceiling in the living room. the design was kind of "modern adobe" . There were stairs inside the condo, but the weird part was the little adobe flight of stair leading to a crawl space in the living room. there was no door, just an opening.
I went in it because I was curious and it was a little passage inter-connecting all the apts. some entrances had decorations on there opening within the passageway. One had a sign that said "party's in here".
I though that was weird so I headed back. I notice the passage had more stairwell in it and went to other places like the roof and different floors. Anyhoo I get back, and moments later I see a teenager at the passage entrance. he begged for food and I had gotten some tamales at the festival so I gave him one.
I went outside to leave and noticed it was getting dark. As I was getting into the back seat of the (person that im visiting and have no idea what they look like's) car, I see the kid I just fed with like 8 other kids and a mom walking through the parking lot pan handling. I do nothing and get in the car.

Ok , what does it all mean?
omg...i really did eat a cheap frozen pizza O.o
before i went to bed ....lol

What is a good brand for truck bed covers?
I have a 1991 Toyota Truck that I want to get a bed cover for, but seeing as this is the first truck that I've ever owned, I don't know very many trusted brand names for accessories haha. What are some quality brands?

    • ANSWER:
I've had a lot of different covers over the years and the last two I bought were from USA: http://www.truckcoversusa.com/html/covers.html

I bought my first one when I saw a demonstration where two guys stood on the cover and bounced up and down and it didn't do any damage. Of all the covers it's definitely the strongest as well as providing the best water proofing of any I've had. When not needed it rolls up into a small canister.

  33. QUESTION:
    How's this peice of writing?

“Good morning...um…mom!” “Breakfast is waiting on the table”, she said in a sweet way.
She hovered to the table and sat down. She felt angry that no one woke her up early, though she kept reminding her dad and ‘mom’ the whole night after the ‘last dinner’.

“Thankyou!” “Don’t mention it!” She tp the garage where dad was and then helped him load the stuff.

She stepped outside the house. She looked arounf at the neighborhood. Quite and pretty little houses stood, watching her. She had lived there for 17 years, since she was born. She walked around the house, looking in all directions. The beautiful rose and lily flower beds her mother had planted in front of the front porch.

Then to the west of the house stood a tall ------ tree right outside her window, where she once made a little birfeeder and a bird bath on the 3 branch.

“They were supposed to arrive an hour earlier.” Wow!

It's good for a kid, but there is an awful lot of mistakes, too many to correct. Suggest you proof read it yourself and make corrections. Read it aloud to yourself or have someone else read it aloud - it's easier to find mistakes that way.

Truck Parts Online

Buy Your Aftermarket Truck Parts Online

Does your business use trucks or buses? When you do maintenance and repairs on them, where do you get your parts? Do you buy national brands or do you prefer to order aftermarket truck parts? If you have a lot of repairs to do on your trucks, it is very cost efficient to use the aftermarket truck parts. They are built to International and IC Bus aftermarket quality standards and can save you quite a lot of money compared to national brands. What kind of truck parts can you order online? Here is a list:

Belts & Hoses
Brakes
HVAC
Drivetrain
Electrical
Engine
Exhaust
Filters
Cab & Chrome Accessories
Lighting
Rotating Electrics
Seals
Shop Supplies
Steering & Suspension
Wiper Blades - Heavy Duty

Bus parts can also be ordered online. Here is a list of those:

Belts & Hoses
Brakes
HVAC
Drivetrain
Electrical
Engine
Exhaust
Filters
Cab & Chrome Accessories
Lighting
Rotating Electrics
Seals
Shop Supplies
Steering & Suspension
Wiper Blades - Heavy Duty

When you order, check the shipping policies and costs. There are internet parts companies that offer free shipping and some that do not. Some parts cannot be shipped because they weigh too much to be sent UPS or FedEx. You will need to find a place locally where you can purchase those parts. Also, some parts contain hazardous materials and so cannot be shipped. An example of those would be the following:

Transmission Fluid
Brake Fluid
Batteries (which contain battery acid)
Most Paints and Other Potentially Dangerous Items

What is the company's return policy? Do they offer credit, or money back? What kind of warranties do they have for their parts? If you get a defective part, will they replace it? Most parts companies will give you a one year warranty. You return the part and they will give you either credit or replace the part.

What do you do if you can't find a part you want online? Sometimes online parts dealers will have a local dealer finder that will help you find someone in your area that will source the part for you.

Buying parts online is advantageous, because you can price compare quickly and easily from the comfort of your chair. In the trucking business, for every dollar, the trucking company has a 95.2 cent cost, leaving only a profit of 4.8 cents on every dollar. Every penny you save is important to your bottom line. Make sure to find the best price for your parts.

  14. QUESTION:
Where can I find an online Toyota dealer with a good stock of older truck parts and GOOD pictures of same.?
I just asked a similar question but the answers were in between stupid and comical. I want a website with a parts listing setup IDENTICAL to my local dealer-Complete breakdown picture for a category (say starter) and a corresponding numbered list with part numbers for EVERYTHING-not just rebuilt and new starters but every nut bolt and bearing, brush etc. I want to walk into my local dealer with part numbers for EXACTLY what I want-I realize his prices will be different-but I get what I want without waiting for hours while a rookie moron looks up things he never heard of. Autozone and others only list and stock common parts-I'm a mechanic-I'd rather replace a set of brushes than buy a 5 starter-and maybe the bearings too-try getting THEM at Autozone (actually you can get them from a bearing supplier-for a LOT less) Toyota trucks don't last 5 minutes in junkyards around here.

    • ANSWER:
The trouble with o.e. numbers is that many times there is no cross reference available. There is no common aftermarket supplier that will have the breakdown of type and size of bolts used to attach the fenders/doors/bed. I understand your frustration with the pimple faced kids who play grab-ass with the girls at Autozone. Most of the internal electrical components are avail at a rebuilder..in the Fresno, CA area I go to Evans Electric Service. I went in there with an old military stationary engine starter, looking for a rebuilt unit..The old man (the owner since 1930) said as I walked into the door, " You need a 4617,,that's an old Chrysler..if it had fine thread mounting holes, it would be a 4922". By the time I got to the counter, a rebuilt unit was already on the counter and the invoice was printed out..Now, that's service. Seek out the independent/old timer parts dealers..there's lots of info/wisdom there. Autozone only goes after the gravy, and doesn't stock slow movers. They show the pimple faced kids how to use the computer, most of them don't know that the universal joint is not part of the fuel tank.

  15. QUESTION:

where can I find affordable replacement parts for my truck?
I have a 1990 GMC K-1500 I need two doors and the fender for the passanger side. If at all possible I would like to find complete doors. I've looked online, but have only found sites where I can order the parts separately, which is really exspensive.

I would also like to find a place where I can oder online and have the parts shipped. Thanks for the help.

    • ANSWER:
you might find what your looking for on this site I'm sure they have all the parts for that one that you,ll need, good luck,,, http://www.lmctruck.com/

  17. QUESTION:
trying to figure out why my stock coolant temp sensor is different from online replacement parts.?
The one that came with my 96 for ranger is the factory stock. It looks for the most part like the replacement ones online, except where the wiring connects. The one that is in the truck now almost has a spark plug look, where the wire boot fits over the tip of it. All the replacements have the plastic clip that connects to the new sensor. I'm basically wondering why my factory wiring would be different.

    • ANSWER:
One thing that seems to be pretty common is they give you the wrong coolant temp sender/sensor, but for the right car. The one with the spark plug type boot is for the temp gauge or idiot light in your dash. If the other one uses a positive locking mechanism, and the wire side of the connector uses a little accordion/pleated like rubber boot, and has two terminals instead of one, that's the one that sends a signal to your cars computer. The first is also usually referred to as a "sender" while the second is referred to as a "sensor".

      Here's a temp "sender";

      Here's a temp "sensor";

Best place to buy Honda Civic body parts online?
My son has had a fender bender with his 2000 Honda Civic EX. I'm needing to find a good place to purchase a right front fender as well as a right power mirror.

He and I can easily do the replacement and save on body shop labor but I will have a local shop paint the parts for me to get a quality job. I've found several places online to order replacement body parts for the car and the prices are great. However, they stick it to you on the shipping. The fender for his car is relatively small but some places want to ship it by truck and others UPS ground. One quote for shipping by truck was 5 and another by UPS was . Their prices for the fender alone is only around !!

Where I work I handle much of the UPS shipping and I know it shouldn't be more than -20 to ship this item, plus a little for the handling of course. But their shipping prices amount to robbery!

Have a good source for parts that is fair on the shipping? I'm not opposed to used parts either as long as they are of good quality and near new condition. Other advice or suggestions appreciated!

    • ANSWER:
      forget the online stuff.

call a local wrecking yard. they are on a national data base now days. they will point you to the closest yard that has what you need. if they don't, they are still in the stone age. call another yard. figure out your shipping from there.
      -----------
fenders usually cost around 150 or more. that should off set any shipping charges alone.

  29. QUESTION:
What parts/kits are needed to change 3.73 front and rear axle gearing to 4.88 for 2004 silverado 4x4?
I'm trying to change the axle gearing of my truck from 3.73 to 4.88 by myself since i purchased some 35" tires. can somebody tell me the new parts/kits needed to do this? i might search a local junk yard first or buy parts online instead of dealing with an autoshop. help is appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
If you have never done this before, I wouldn't recommend it. There are specific clearance tests that need to be done. You can't just remove one and put it back together. Lateral run out needs to be measured, inner bearings need to be shimmed, and the ring gear backlash needs to be correct or the rear end will howl and not last very long. There is also the fact that this is a 4x4 and both axles need to be the same gear ratio or one can cause damage to the other when in four wheel drive.
These are things you need to consider prior to replacement.
The parts that will be needed are the ring and pinion gear set, the pinion seal, both axle seals, and a crush sleeve that is a one time use sleeve that goes between the inner and outer bearing on the pinion shaft. The inner bearing is pressed on the pinion shaft.
I wouldn't recommend salvage yard parts for this, unless you are going to replace the whole axle from brake backing plate to brake backing plate.
Your best to leave this to a specialist. Hope this helps and good luck. Christopher

  30. QUESTION:
where can i find auto and body parts for a 1978 Chevy truck?
looking for other reliable online places other than LMC truck

    • ANSWER:

  31. QUESTION:
What's the best online store for motorcycle and auto parts?
I'm just trying to figure out some of the best websites to buy parts from, both for motorcycles, dirt bikes, and cars/trucks.

The biggest thing I'm looking for is low price/low shipping, as well as a wide selection.

    What are your favorites?

    • ANSWER:
Oh wow. Here are a couple of sites:

      http://www.stylinconcepts.com
      http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com
      http://www.bikebandit.com
      http://www.autoanything.com/
      http://www.jcwhitney.com
      http://www.ridegear.com/

I like Stylinconcepts. We ordered a lot from them when my husband had his Blazer.

If you do a lot of shopping online or plan to, I would recommend checking out coupons or rewards programs as well especially if you know where you want to shop. It's a great way to save or get something back. I use Memolink.com a lot. They have coupons and they offer points back for shopping that you can turn in for gift certificates. There are others out there as well like Upromise and there are sites that specialize in just coupons (you can find them by doing a search in Google or Yahoo for the store name and then the word "coupon").

  32. QUESTION:
where can i find a site the can show me a parts diagram for a chevy truck?
i need to find a couple of replacemnt parts or my 2005 chevy coloradobut im not sure exactly what the are called or a parts number for them. i am looking at buy them online and would like to know of a site that would show me the parts of the door panel and it would let me chose the part i need from the diagram and either let me purchase it or at least tell me what it is called or a parst number

thanks i tried going to the dealer but they wanted 110 dollars for it and i found that bezel item on a website for only 13 dollars but it was for a canyon(gmc version) and i wasnt quite sure if it i s the same.

    • ANSWER:
I believe what you are looking for is the door switch bezel. If you go to your local GM dealer you can actually pick out the piece you need at the parts counter. Unless you plan on getting a used one the dealer is the only place to get something like that.

  33. QUESTION:
Quality of buying automotive parts online?
I just got an old 1978 chevy C10 short box. It has some rust on the left fender and left quarter panel so I want to just replace them. I looked on lmctrucks.com and I found a fender for 50$ and a quarter panel for close to the same. I also need a new carpet and found that for 100$. All these prices are 25-50% off when I compared them to an auto body shop.

The only thing is I'm worried about the quality of the products. Are the fenders going to be just flimsy pieces of tin? Or are they going to be the real deal?

Does anyone have any experience with buying auto parts online? Are the bad or good? Or would you recommend I just pay the extra money and buy them from a body shop.

My brother has redone trucks so I don't need to pay for labour I just need the parts so we can put them on In my dads garage.

    • ANSWER:
These are called reproduction parts (LMC, CLASSIC IND.etc) and will be of a slightly lower quality (depending on the part type) But if you choose to go with NOS (new old stock) you will pay premium dollar for these parts!

  41. QUESTION:
Where can I watch online a automotive clutch replaced?
Looking for a removal, inspection and description of parts inside manual tranny, and replacement. I assume it would be in several parts. Any car/ truck will do.

    • ANSWER:
Well...you see...the problem is that you're assuming it's a universal job which it is not. Unless it's RWD the removal of a transmission is a drawn out process which includes dismantling a lot of things that you're going to have a problem identifying in your own car (because engines are set up differently). What you should do is run down to the library or autozone and pick up a chilton for your car, read it in the aisle, and see if you have the mechanical expertise to do it.

I can tell you right now that without a lift on a FWD car it's going to be a two person job if you need it done in a weekend...not to mention the fact that you're going to have to catalog all the bolts and take pictures of what you're doing so you can do it in reverse.

If you still think you want to do it you can check out a well described clutch swap in a fwd car here (Chapter 5):

where on the internet or elsewhere can i go to find out hwat parts swap with what?
ok my brother has a 1963 pickup and im trying to help him out. where can i find a parts list that will tell me what model car or trucks will be able to bolt on to my bros truck? specifically we are looking to swap out both axles from six lug to five lug and have power brakes(disk front, drum back or both disc) is there a place online or elsewhere that would list this stuff?

    • ANSWER:
Your best bet is to either start with Hemmings Motor News or find a car club for your brother's make of truck. I had a 54 Hudson and the local club had published a book of swappable parts that were available at one of the local chain auto parts stores.

You could also try local auto swap meets and see what you could find there as well.

Greener' options for electric vehicles on the rise

Makers are releasing more efficient low-speed units for various applications.

Encouraged by rising demand for environment-friendly products, China suppliers of electric vehicles are expanding selections for different end-user segments. Recent releases include police cars, street-cleaning carts, vans and three-wheeled cycles with semi-enclosed cabins. In coming months, the industry is set to roll out more models with maximum speeds of 60 to 80kph.

Sales projections are optimistic, reaching double-digit levels, with incentives from governments at home and overseas stimulating market interest. Demand for such products is on the rise as these utilize only 30 percent of the power consumed by versions that can run 150kph. Sporting simple designs and low-power motors, they are also priced one-fth less than the latter at ,500 to ,000 each.

In 2010, annual output of low-speed electric cars exceeded 10,000 units, an increase of 10 percent from the previous year.

Growing market interest has prompted makers to start investing in facilities specically for these products. As a result, yearly capacity is expected to reach 50,000 units by 2012.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How powerful should my car amp be?
I want to get a pair of 12 subs similar to the ones below:

    http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-auto-parts-tires-other-parts-accessories-Mtx-Dual-12-Sub-in-Original-Mtx-SLedgehammer-Ported-Box-600rms-W0QQAdIdZ231982636

They are 600 watts total, so should I look for something more powerful than 600 watts?

    • ANSWER:
Just get an amp that powers 600w rms +/- 10% and you'll be fine. I think the specs said it's 2ohms and I believe that's final ohms. Use this link to find the correct wiring with subs/amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html

  2. QUESTION:
Chevy Astro AWD 1994 Fuse help!!!?
Okay I've asked this question the past 3 days and haven't got a straight answer and am running in loops.

The problem is I tried hooking up an aftermarket radio and all the wires and everything was good to go and tested with a multi meter... however the so called ''constant'' 12volt orange wire is only switched so when the van shuts off I lose all the settings which take 2-3 mins each time to set.

So I went to run a wire from the radio to the radio fuse down by the emergency brake inside the van thinking THAT would be constant like it was in my other car... wrong :(

So then I found 1 thing that works ALWAYS with the van off it's the power seats which would fall under the fuse ''power accessories'' or on the fuse box ''pwr acc''

So as I tried to pull it free I ended up dropping it somewhere and never found it after 30 mins looking around... I called murrays, Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts EVERY AUTO STORE and not 1 can tell me what amp fuse it was or anything... I'm very frustrated that something that should be simple is so hard.

The fuse wasn't one of the plastic ones it was a metal looking one someone even said it might have been like a circuit breaker fuse or something.

    So my 3questions are..

Where can I get a replacement fuse if these auto stores don't know anything about it?

What size/kind of fuse is it?

And will wiring my radio to that fuse work?

Please help me out I've asked before and didn't get a straight answer just answerws like ''Try an auto store'' Well I did all that long before coming here and looking online for countless hours. please help!!!!!
I looked everywhere I know it didn't get up and walk away but I searched everywhere possible and impossible it could have went and can't find it lol it's just gone.

I'll try the haynes manual tomorrow but when I went into one of them they only had Ford and Chrysler. Also when I called a Murrays they said in a Chiltons manual it said nothing about ''what kind of fuse'' it was. Not sure if he even looked or what but thats what I was told.
    Thanks!!!

Santo and Dennis you guys finally helped me a bit. I'll be able to have it fixed soon I contacted a dealer and they said they had one and I may even get a 2nd one just incase thanks guys also for the radio I'll probably run a wire straight from the batt to the radio for constant 12v since the radio has a on/off button it doesn't matter.

Also the yellow/Orange wire behind the dash are messed up.. the yellow is switched 12v and the orange is SUPPOSED to be CONSTANT but that wire is also switched so I got my own plan now I finally got some help thanks

    jeep charging system problems?
so hears the story, i have a 93 Cherokee with a lot of accessories, (sound system, high wattage lighting, etc....) so one day i noticed i was starting to put out less volts than i normally do, (its not a faulty gauge either, i have 3 in the jeep, monitoring different things. so my first thought was i finally killed my alternator, i knew it was going to happen one day. so i ordered a high out put alternator (165 amps), when it arrived i put it in first thing, went to test it and it does not seem to be doing any better than the stock 90 amp, im kinda thinking it could be the voltage regulater, thats because if im idling and than load it down to battery voltage 12.6, than i stop loading it, it wont come back up to 14 volts unless i rev the engine, so i went to the auto parts store and requested a voltage regulator, come to find out there is no seperate voltage regulator, im not sure but i think its integrated into the ecu (am i right, cuz im not sure?), if it is, i just happen to have another ecu lying around i could put in. but other than that i am lost any suggestions?

i wondered if there's a way to attach the two or should i use my home theater receiver ac connect the amp to that??

    • ANSWER:
The only way to connect to your receiver is through the headphone jack. The headphone jack output level will vary with the volume control. All you need is a standard 1/4 inch TRS to RCA cable:

      http://www.amazon.com/HOSA-STEREO-PHONE-3-3ft-RETURN/dp/B000068O1J/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1290009597&sr=1-5

Just keep in mind that that amp is not that much more powerful than your receiver, so you may be disappointed. The amp puts out 170 watts into 8 ohms and the receiver puts out 100 watts. That difference will be noticeable but not dramatic.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How would I pursue a career in automotive design?
I'm an 18 year old senior in high school and I would like to pursue a career in automotive design with a focus in Sport Utility Vehicles and Trucks. I don't necessarily want to focus on the exterior artistic aspects, but more the chassis, engine, suspension, capabilities, accesories, etc.

    • ANSWER:
maybe look into Industrial design. They work on mass-produced goods.

Look at the auto websites - all of them from Honda to Ford and see if they have any of these positions listed - and then look over the skills required - that will give you a good place to start.

  2. QUESTION:
What size box should i build for my future car?(subwoofer box)?
i was thinking about building a box for two 10" inch subs or 12".

what is the most common size and what should i go with?

by the way i dont have any specific subs picked out or a car...yet. But I'm building it for my automotive accesories class. and plan on getting them soon.

    • ANSWER:
Well, first it depends on the car. You can't always fit two 10" subs in the trunk of a car, however, its rare that a 12" sub won't fit in.

Then, it depends on the subwoofer. Each sub needs a little different size box. You can find numerous size calculators online, however, most commonly you can find the exact dimensions required and a couple different options of box sizes for different trunks (and even ported and sealed cabinets). There is no way to build the box without knowing what subs, and you can't decide the subs without knowing what you have for a car.

  3. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. You have to determine whether you'll start a web based business or one with a store front. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to the link below and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a small business and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the licenses you'll need and the customers you'll concentrate on (your market) and how you'll go after them.

You'll need to register the business with your state controller's office and make sure that you check to see whether any city and county licenses are needed where you live. All of this will come out in a business plan.

Try linking to YCHANGE International and read some of the articles especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business.

  4. QUESTION:
    automotive amp meter question?
I dont normally take much notice of my amp meter, but recently After driving for over 6 hours through and over mountains, meaning the engine was working at high revs in low gear, I noticed the amp meter was showimg +30 amps. for several hours.. I was worried, but next day things looked "normal" again. It was day time and i was using no accesories. What does it mean??

    • ANSWER:
One of two things: Something shorted and was drawing power, or the alternator's regulator is going out and you dumped a ton of current into the battery.

My hunch is the extra workload on the engine increased your engine temp, and hence increased the temp of alternator's internal regulator. The extra heat caused the ouput voltage to shoot up and you basically started roasting the battery (had you pulled over while this was happening I bet you would have heard the acid inside the battery boiling).

Truck Load Covers

Selecting The Best Retractable Tonneau Cover

The trend of customizing light trucks with specialty equipment may be one you've enjoyed indulging. But did you know there's a single accessory that can add style, security and versatility to your truck? A retractable tonneau cover lets you ride in style while protecting whatever you're hauling.

Here are three quick tips for selecting the right one for your vehicle.

Look for Versatility

By allowing you to access your load without cumbersome tonneau removal, a retractable tonneau cover lends real versatility to your light truck. While selecting a cover for your truck bed, opt for features that allow you to load and go quickly.

Remote-controlled retractable tonneau covers like the Pace Edwards Bedlocker give truck owners unparalleled ease of use. The push of a button sets the cover gliding down custom rails, giving full access to whatever is in the bed of the truck. If your truck bed is high traffic, make it even more versatile with a cover you control remotely.

Insist on Security

If you're like most light truck owners, you want to know that what you're hauling is secure. Full metal retractable tonneau covers built from aluminum panels offer improved security as well as style. Combined with remote controlled locking features like those found on the Pace Edwards Bedlocker, your truck becomes virtually tamper-proof.

Also look for "latch and lock" features that let you lock down the cover at intervals along the rails. This allows you to keep the bed secure, even with an irregular-shape load. Pace Edwards covers, in particular, seem to offer this feature in several models, especially the JackRabbit.

One more reason truck owners install tonneau covers is to protect the truck bed from the elements. With the right features, like interlocking panels and drain tubes to draw moisture away from the top, you can eliminate most of the damage rain, ice and snow cause to your truck bed.

Focus on Style

Even if you use your light truck constantly for hauling, there's no reason to sacrifice style. Today's retractable tonneau covers offer sleek styling as well as load security.

Look for durable finishes like powder-coated aluminum to insure a tough, good-looking cover. Another good option is a vinyl polymer cover built on an aluminum frame. Both materials are tough enough to withstand years of use without showing the wear.

While you're shopping, ask about low-profile tonneau cover models. These provide a flush fit that hides the hardware, so they won't detract from a great looking truck. Some truck owners prefer the classic good looks of an "old school" roll-top cover. Take the time to find a style that adds class to your truck's profile.

By the way, not only will a retractable tonneau cover improve your truck's looks, it can also increase your gas mileage. An independent wind tunnel study by the Specialty Equipment Market Association proved that adding a tonneau cover can decrease the drag factor in almost every truck model.

Installing a retractable tonneau cover is always a great investment for truck owners. With some careful shopping, you'll find a cover that gives you greater versatility and load security while preserving your truck's smooth styling.

Truck Bed Racks

Truck Bed Covers - Save Gas And Transform Your Truck

Truck bed covers are attachments to a pickup truck's bed that protect against weather and provide security from theft. This allows you to store items in the bed away from the weather, from damage, and from the prying eyes of thieves. Unlike truck attachments like camper shells, bed covers do not provide additional vertical cargo space. Bed covers are best when you desire your truck to maintain a low profile or when you wish for your truck to have an easy on, easy off cover for its beds. 1. Save Gas! As air flows over the front end of your vehicle, it careens into the hollow bowl of your bed and produces opposite force to your truck. This could easily eat several miles from your gas mileage every time you use your truck. These types of covers also provide extra gas mileage by reducing air drag that is exacerbated by the truck bed - an aerodynamic nightmare. You could even save about 10% on your gas with a good truck cover! 2. About Bed Covers - Strong, rigid canopy covers - Protect your transport items - Some are detachable - Easy to install - Do not restrict the use of your tailgate 3. History Of Truck Covers Truck covers are also known as truck bed covers. They have evolved from a number of versions that have been designed for a different uses. Because of this, no one person can claim to have invented the truck cover. Soft covers gained became popular on major speedways. Sport truck racers used soft truck covers to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag. Hard top truck covers rose in prominence as an alternative to camper shells. These highly-customized truck bed lids evolved to suit the various needs of truck drivers. 4. Truck Cover Storage Basics When you need to transport items ranging from groceries, to heavy furniture, the truck cover does the trick. The cover shields your items from view, from the weather and from damage. Even simple covers can sufficiently protect your stuff. In some instances, truck covers employ strategically-placed weather seals that channel the moisture away from the covers. With such equipment, truck owners have a greater peace of mind when transporting items sensitive to such. With most models, installation requires no drilling into the truck bed. Black is the standard color offered by most manufacturers, but many do offer a variety of other colors. When purchasing a truck bed cover, you need to decide between a hard cover (solid fiberglass) and a soft cover (vinyl). The differences between the two are highlighted below: 5. Hard Covers Firmly attached, they do not blow off even at highway speeds. They are available with hinge systems to allow an easier lifting of cover to put or get cargo. It also is secure and lockable. These hard covers weigh about 100 lbs. Hard covers are also more expensive than vinyl covers. They are more durable and are also weatherproof. 6. Soft Covers These, on the other hand, are easy to remove and install. They often just snap on to the truck rails and are ready to go. Although they may not be as tough as hard covers, they are still strong enough to provide protection for 1 to 2 people. If you are hauling large cargo, these covers come off easily to accommodate the extra space.About the author For more great truck bed cover related articles and resources check out http://www.weknow-covers.comSource: http://www.articlesalley.com/article.detail.php/29935/242/Trucks/Cars_and_Trucks/30/Truck_Bed_Covers_-_Save_Gas_And_Transform_Your_Truck

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
can you damage your bicycle by transporting in truck bed?
I have a road bike but do not have a truck bed rack. I just put the bicycle on its side in the back of the truck.

    • ANSWER:
I guess anything can happen, but I put a lot more impact, damage, and risk on a bike riding it, that I would ever imagine it getting in a sissy mobile.

  2. QUESTION:
Would ladder racks be able to be removed from a truck bed?
I've been looking into buying an older work truck lately, and I found a decent little work truck for the ranch, but its got ladder racks. It looks like the ladder racks were added on after they purchased the truck, so in that case, would they be able to be removed?

    • ANSWER:
of course,,,, they just fit into the holes along the rails!! all racks are after market!

  3. QUESTION:
Need help on securing Kayak better in a truck bed?
I have a toyota tacoma single cab short bed truck! And when i put my (whitewater) kayak in the bed of my truck it hangs out a little! does anybody have a better way of straping a kayak in the bed of a truck? What about a truck bed rack for kayaks is that a good investment or a waste of money?

    • ANSWER:
If you do it a lot, look at Yakima or Thule racks. Not interchangeable, but those are the big names in high-quality gear racks. Yaks, bikes, skiis, etc. For all kinds of different vehicles. Their websites can match your vehicles with your toy and give you the options.

There are dense foam saddles that fit the round bottom of a kayak and make it sit flat on a roof. About each. REI has them. You'd use two for a car roof, I guess one between the boat and your cab roof.

National rafting supply has great straps:

      http://nrsweb.resultspage.com/boating/Cam%20Straps

And good straps make a huge difference. DON'T use bungies. They won't hold against the cornering and aerodynamic forces. Get about 4 12-footers and 2 20-footers. Great for when you haul plywood, refridgerators, etc, too.

Do you have those 2"x3" or 2"x4" recievers in the sidewalls? Drop lumber in the back ones and put on a cross piece. Now you can secure the kayak at the back and over the cab.

Stop by a donut shop and ask a cop about state/local rules about overhanging loads. 0-2 feet might need nothing. 2 to 4 feet might need a flag. Over something (4? 6?) isn't allowed. Check locally.

  4. QUESTION:
are truck bed gun racks legal in Illinois?

    • ANSWER:
The racks are legal, putting guns in them is what might get you in trouble!

  5. QUESTION:
Where's the best spot to wedge a 2X4 in my ford f-150 truck bed for a bike rack?
Is one spot better than another? How far forward should it be? I have the cleat to screw onto it already.

    • ANSWER:
You could attach the cleat directly to the top of the rail just behind the cab, assuming you're talking about a front QR clamp.

Otherwise, you could leave the front wheel on, skip the QR clamp and use tie-downs between the handlebars and the corners of the truck bed.

  6. QUESTION:
How can I easily get 4 bicycles in and out of my truck bed while using a canopy?
Would like to be able to haul 4 mountain bikes in the bed of a Ford F-250, but I'd like the added safety of a canopy. Is this practical? Seems like it would be hard to get the bikes in and out with the racks that I've seen. Thanks for any insight.

    • ANSWER:
The canopy would definitely hinder the ability to get the bikes in and out quickly. Softride, a bike rack manufacturer, came up with a product geared towards mountain bikers that use trucks to transport a group of bikes up to the top of a trail.

It's called the Shuttle Pad. The idea is to hang the front wheels of the bikes outside the tail gate. The bikes can stand upright and are secured. Much better than just tossing them in the bed. We did a video review of the product that I've linked to below.

You could leave the canopy on, but the glass hatch would have to remain open. And bouncing around could damage the glass.

  7. QUESTION:
anybody know where I can find a good truck rack (for the bed of the truck, not a gun rack for the back window)?
truck rack recommendations? where to buy? who to call?

    • ANSWER:
I think you're talking about what's called a "headache rack"

It protects the back window and back of the cab in case something would fly forward that you're hauling in the bed of the truck.

Try craigslist.org in your are or do a search on the net for...
      "your truck here" headache rack

Help me convert my 1990 Jeep Cherokee to a truck bed like the Chevy Avalanche.?
I rolled my 1990 Jeep Cherokee and mashed the rear, (my roll cage and roof rack saved the front and engine. So I've decided to convert the trunk space into a semi-truck bed just like the Chevy Avalanche. I've seen other XJ's like this where they cut out the windows and turn the trunk into half cargo - truck bed and half open. I need suggestions. I want to put a window in the back...

    • ANSWER:
Its alot of work but the best way is to cut the roof where you want the rear of the roof to stop then get a jeep pickup cab and cut the back of the cab off and weld it in place. It's harder than it sound's and requires some fabrication but if you can weld you can do it.

(b)(2)(i) 5 feet (1.52 meters) or less in length and more than 1,100 pounds (500 kg) in weight; or

(b)(2)(ii) Longer than 5 feet (1.52 meters) but less than or equal to 10 feet (3.04 meters) in length, irrespective of the weight.

(b)(3) Two tiedowns if the article is longer than 10 feet (3.04 meters), and one additional tiedown for every 10 feet (3.04 meters) of article length, or fraction thereof, beyond the first 10 feet (3.04 meters) of length.

  12. QUESTION:
how do you make a ladder rack for a pickup truck?
Something that requires no or just a few holes drilled into the truck bed. It will be for 1 or 2 ladders, so it only needs a capacity of 200 - 300 lbs. Designed to be easily removed would be nice, but not necessary.
    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Best way I have seen is with channel iron rails and square tubing. weld it all together then use camper shell clamps to hold it to the rail of your pickup. Then its a simple matter of removong the 4 clamps and sliding the rack off. no holes required. Be sure to put a no slip base under the rack to protect the pickup paint and ensure the rack does not slide back.

  15. QUESTION:
Men: Is it normal for a guy with a short bed truck to think he has to purchase a?
small vehicle and put racks on top to carry racks and things on top? My boyfriend says he has to purchase a small car with racks on top because there is no way that he can fit a 20ft ladder and all the long kayaks he uses and other things. I told him he is not a construction worker or a roofer. He doesn't need that type od equipment but he refuses to listen. I said that I hardly ever see small trucks or cars with racks and he said that is because the people always have to ask other men with larger trucks to carry stuff for them?

  18. QUESTION:
What to get as first truck add-on?
So I just got a used truck. It has no bed mat, toolbox, headache rack, or brush guard. What would you suggest as the first thing for me to get and why? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
A sturdy brush guard and bed liner is really all you need as far as protection goes. A brush guard can do a lot for you if you hit something head on and unless you dont care about scratching the bed or its already scratched up then I would also get a bedliner. You could get a toolbox but it takes up valuable bed space and you already have lockable storage behind the seat.

I would start with a tune up. Replace the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, engine oil and filter, transmission fluid and filter, and differential oil. If it has coil packs, replace them. If it has a distributor, replace the cap and rotor. If it has a carburettor, have it adjusted by a professional. If it has fuel injection, run some name brand injector cleaner through the engine. Fix any oil leaks such as valve covers or the oil pan.

The tune up will be significantly cheaper if you do it yourself, but dont get into anything youre not sure you can finish. Get a repair manual at your local auto parts store and it will walk you through everything.

After the tune up you can add a cold air intake, exhaust, and tuning chip for more power.

  19. QUESTION:

  20. QUESTION:
How do I get my truck rack uprights plumb?
I just bought a Thule 422XT Xsporter multi-height truck rack system. I have installed it (correctly) on my 2003 Ford F150 Super Crew pickup. The 4 uprights mounted on the tops of the bed rails lean inward towards bed, so when I try to attach the horizontal cross members, it is a struggle to allign the bolts on cross members with the receiving holes in the uprights. I can force them, but then the cross members bow downward and this tension makes it almost impossible to raise and lower the rack height. I have tried Rack Attack technical guys and they have no viable solution. Help!!!

    • ANSWER:
Loosen the entire installation just slightly and put in your cross members, this should then allow you to square the whole rack up then tighten it all.

  21. QUESTION:

  23. QUESTION:
Truck is making a whining noise at low speed turns, what could it be?
I have an 04 Silverado, truck was lowered when I bought it and its been good until recently noticed a whinning noise coming from the front end and only at low speed turns. I took it to a shop and he replaced the rack and pinion thinking that was the cause. He said the rack and pinion where worn out, leaking pinion fluid. Cost me 700 bucks to fix.. Got it home and the noise is still there, Wheel bearing? Springs? It also makes the same noise every time I hit a bump in the road. Truck bed also looks to be uneven, looks like the bed was put back on and not centered. The whole truck has a lean to it, not sure if it has anything to do with my problem. It has 22" rims on it and 81000 miles,If you guys have any ideas what the problem could be please share them. Thanks fellas.
I think the truck was in an accident, some bondo under it but the noise just recently started. They did not replace power steering pump. Truck is leaking power steering fluid and I'm thinking maybe I drove it with no fluid left causing pump to go bad?
it does not go away if I rev the rpms during turn.. Yes, both wheels but not as bad on one side. yes, it makes the noise in park. Noise seems to be coming from behind the rim..

    • ANSWER:
A whining noise sounds like a power steering pump issue. Suspension components don't make whining noises, more like squeaking or rubbing noises. And the fact that it only does it at low speed during turning suggests that the power steering pump is struggling due to insufficient pump pressure at low RPM.

Does it do it on both right and left hand turns?
Does it go away if you rev the engine during the turning?
Does it do it if you are parked and turning the steering wheel?
If you jack the truck front end up to remove tension from the suspension and do it, does it still do it?

To test for a bad wheel bearing, jack the suspected wheel off of the ground. Then using both hands, shake the wheel using a push/pull motion (push the left side of the tire away from you while pulling the right side of the tire toward you, then reverse the motion to test for play ). If it has play then the wheel bearing is bad. If it does not have play then the wheel bearing is good.

  25. QUESTION:
is this legal? gun carry in truck?
i am turing 18 soon and i live in PA i want to have a shotgun in my truck and plan to have it unloaded in a gun rack and shells in a tool box in the bed of the truck is this legal and any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
It depends on the state in which you live. For instance in my state you may carry weapons in your vehicle any time you wish without a concealed weapons permit. In my state a law was passed that made your vehicle an extension of your home. Also the concealed weapons permit only pertains to hand guns to the best of my knowledge. But here is one important fact that you will soon learn if you don't listen to my advice. In most towns a gun in a gun rack left in an unattended truck will last about 30 minutes before it is stolen. And don't think a locked door will stop anyone from breaking into the vehicle.Don't leave a gun in plain sight in your vehicle!

  26. QUESTION:
I need a vehicle that I can fit my road bike in. Suggestions?
I really really don't want to get a bike rack.

    • ANSWER:
Just about but 100 over the limit,.

  28. QUESTION:
What are my options regarding the condition of the bed of my 09 tubdra?
I bought this truck new in 09 and never did get spray on bed liner. I'm a musician/drummer/bass player and my road cases are a large ata case on wheels and a shock mount ata rack for my bass rig. They're both pretty heavy when loaded and I'm usually fortunate for them to stay still as long as the wheels are locked during transportation. However, on the days I carried my gear whenever it rained, the cases slid all over the bed of my truck if I wasn't careful ( on more than One occasion) and now I have a shït load of dents everywhere on the inside of the bed of my truck. The metal seems really not that strong. My silverado never did that!

What are my options? How much would I expect to pay to get all these dents sucked out? Will professional spray on bed lining hide these dents? How much would it cost to get the entire bed replaced? What about covering with carpet or plastic? I want a sweet windowless canopy on top to help conceal my equipment but I'm afraid the dents and smashes messed up the rear window side of the bed and a canopy won't properly place on top of it.

    Thanks!
    Pan blanco!

can i tie down the mattress on roof rack of sienna van?
i have a queen size bed and box spring and i dont want to spend 130 to rent a truck. is it possible to tie it on top of the roof rack with bungie cords and lotsa rope?

    • ANSWER:
If you lived where I do, this would be a common sight.

What most forget is tying toward the front and back as well as the sides. Most of the mattresses I see rolling down the interstate look like they are sitting up in bed.

The major issue, beyond that, is shifting during turns, braking or acceleration, Hence tying off both front and back as well as sides.

  34. QUESTION:
Truck "wobbles" at high speeds. Feels like it wants to go in different directions. What's causing it?
Truck was in recent accident. Had rear end damage and minor front end damage. Had to take it back to the shop as the alignment was way off -- even though I was told they did the alignment. They said the alignment rack was off center and they adjusted the shackles. It now seems to drive pretty straight, but not perfect. Also had it on the highway and between 75-80 mph the truck felt very wobbly -- as if it was trying to go in different directions. It was a very scary feeling. Any ideas of the cause?

Someone mentioned frame damage could cause this and I noticed on the estimate it said "frame pull incl bed" ... and the technician did mention it was on a frame rack when they were double checking the alignment issue...

Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks!

Couldn't stand it up straight in truck because of racks attached to the bed so laid it diagonally (had no other option) but the move was only about 20 minutes. Got it home and let it stand unplugged for 2 1/2 hours. It's been 6 hours and the freezer feels a little cold but not fridge. Is it too late to unplug and let stand longer or is it ruined. I thought the freezer was working but it's just barely cold. Stupid me went and bought groceries cuz' I haven't had a fridge for 2 weeks, duh!

    • ANSWER:

  37. QUESTION:
Where to get an accurate value on a 1969 F-350?
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew of a web site where I could get an accurate value for this truck? Or if I send someone all the info on it and some photos, if someone would be able to value it for me. I checked locally, and no one seems to do it. I've checked the NADA classic guide web site, but the problem is that they only give the values for crew cabs and flare side pick-ups. This one is a stake bed, a rack body with tool boxes on the side under the bed. The racks are short. It was the previous owner's grandfather's truck and he couldn't fit it in the garage with the racks at full height, so he cut them to half their height. They still look awesome! We just bought this truck, and while we know we got a really good deal on it, the insurance company wants to know a value for it, and apparently they won't send someone out to do it, even if we pay for it. They don't care too much right now, because we're carrying regular insurance on it, but we want to register it as "historical" next year, or sooner, and to do that we need to have "historical" insurance on it. Then the insurance company will definitely want a value for it. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Let me clarify for those not reading all the details. We have already bought this truck, we need the value for insurance reasons. And Ford's are not junk! I think you may have them confused with all Chrysler products.

KBB doesn't go back 41 years. If they do, I can't find it on their web site. I only saw back to 1990.
Thank you Mike! The truck is 100%, about 65-70% original, the rest restore. She runs, drives and rides like a dream and looks amazing, being garage kept since 75 and repainted last year, color changed from a terra cotta red to "oasis green." We don't need the value right now, when we change the insurance coverage to historical we will.

And I will correct myself, not ALL Chrysler products are junk. They were really quite good before 1980.
Military Supporter: I'm glad you've had good luck with Chryslers, I never have and neither has anyone I've known. Just to list a few, I had an Intrepid that the oil literaly vanished out of. Yes I checked it regularly & no it didn't leak out or go anywhere else, even the mechanic was at a loss as to where it went. I had a Cherokee Laredo that started running on 2 cyls and no matter what the dealer did they couldn't get the other 6 back. A Neon that a month after I got it from Chrysler wanted to throw a rod. 2 year old car and Chrysler wouldn't stand behind their warrenty. Friend's dad has an 08 Ram 1500, been back to the dealer 6 times for tranny issues. I hope the police officers like the Chargers, but no, I haven't noticed. Our local and state police use Cameros for their sport vehicles.

Thank you to everyone for answering.

    • ANSWER:
The insurance company wants a dollar figure so they can estimate your
insurance premium.. the greater the value you place on the truck the more
your insurance is going to cost... you and you alone can put a replacement
value on the truck... Check Hemmings motor news as this may help in

  38. QUESTION:
How much would it cost to have an entire F150 sprayed in bed liner?
im not sure you can see this link but here is my truck http://www.f150forum.com/dto_garage.php?do=viewvehicle&vehicle_id=10900 ...2004 F150 lariat 5.4L 3V 330 V8.

i live in socal if that helps. i hear Line-X is pretty good?

anyway, the story of why: as a contractor, i use my truck everyday for work and it is getting beat up one ding and scratch after another after another (mostly thanks to my grunts... who also do a fine job so i dont sweat them too much about it)

well today i was on my way to a job and i saw a contractor with the same model truck as mine fully sprayed, two-toned black with grey trim, and it was a solid looking work truck complete with the full lumber/ladder rack. (which i have now too)

i dont want 2 tone just solid black. i'd consider 0-1000 and be able to justify the expense but 00-5000+ i'd have to pass.

    thanks!

    • ANSWER:
go to line-x or call any liner company--my guess would be about 2-3 times cost of bed liner

  39. QUESTION:
    Do anchors for trucks exist?
I have a Dodge Truck and just bought a ladder rack for it but won't be able to put it on there without cutting out a piece of the bed of my truck or having someone weld it on there. Is there something out there that I can use as an anchor to drill into my truck to install the ladder rack?

    Flying flags from an automobile?
I have a 79' F150 with 36" Iroks, and I want to make the truck more distinctive. I would like to install a headache rack (Bed roll bars cost too much) and I would like to mount some 3'x5' flags on it. I was thinking about one on each side. Are there any regulations saying that this would obstruct a drivers view or distract others? I live in Vermont. I either want to have a bigfoot flag, Ford, or Summit racing, paired with the Colors that fly and proud, the red the white and blue.

  41. QUESTION:
My 96 ford ranger spare tire rack has broken... any suggestions?
The rack that holds the spare time in my ford ranger has broken. The metal rod that holds it in place has broken from all the stress over the years. It seems to be welded into the frame and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to remove it. How would I go about getting it fixed and is it worth all the trouble or should I just by a tire cover and keep it in the bed of my truck? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
Bring it to a steel fabricator, a good body shop, or someone who knows how to weld. I'd get it fixed, since it will ultimately devalue the vehicle when and if you want to sell it. It shouldn't cost more than fifty to a hundred dollars to have it welded; even if you have to buy a part, it'll still be better to have it fixed than having your spare rattle around in the bed and perhaps get stolen. Good luck!

  42. QUESTION:
has anybody had this happen before?
I was at pepboys they smashed my truck and ladder and ladder rack the employee didnot see the 40 foot ladder on my truck or the ladder rack I guess so they smashed it into the sofit and facia on the garage and got the lift stuck hours later finaly free my truck . So later they finaly finish so I thought but didnot have time to complete all work so I go back and the employee didnot see the paint in my bed of my truck so he spilled it every where all over the bed and back of my truck and didnot even clean it off. Realy I mean have you ever been treated this way

    • ANSWER:
      Unfortunately I'm not surprised.

Get ready. Things like that will happen again.

VW dealer wrapped a cable around my bumper to tow my car out of the snow on their lot. Totally distorted it; cable dug into bumper. They gave me an argument, saying it was previous damage. Finally I got them to install bumper, used, not for my model.

Honda dealer botched a body work & paint job on an insurance job for my new/repo Accord. Pathetically poor. I refused to accept the Accord back, and kept their loaner. Finally they agreed to buy the Accord from me -0 from what I paid.

I strongly recommend ppL take vehicles to brand-name dealer for maintenance, but they're only the best of the worst.

I'm always ready for Small Claims, Warranty Fraud, Consumer Fraud, etc etc.

My Neice had a crazy hay rack ride on a flat bed trailer just a few weeks ago , and the weather was getting cold and windy., I had the vasiline on the steering wheel, baby powder in the heater vents and the radio turned up full blast, and then the rear end of the truck jacked up just enough so it would not move.

Years ago my husband and some of his buddies where groomsmen for one of their friends. They put the words "Help me" on the bottom of his shoes before the wedding so that when he knelt at the alter everyone attending the wedding could see it. Nowadays I would be pissed at my husband for doing that, but back then we were all young and thought it was hilarious :)

  47. QUESTION:
Need a solution for storing a poker table?
I have a 10 person poker table and need to come up with a clever solution to store it (it's not foldable, but has fold-able legs). I once saw a guy with a "rack" built into the bed of his truck that had like three tables stored vertical (kinda like the trucks that carry automobile windshields). Does anyone know how to build a rack like this, or what materials would work best to store them vertically in my garage?
Why aren't people suggesting solutions to the question i asked instead of offering silly suggestions that really don't come close to what I'm solving for? Bones on the floor? Fold the legs and shove it against a wall? Come on guys!

    • ANSWER:
Go to your local hardware store and describe what you're trying to do. Most places are happy to help you solve these problems because they know that will mean you will buy some materials. Most of the time they know what they're talking about, too!

  48. QUESTION:
What 4x4 would you get for....?
What would you recommend for the following criteria...

    - 4 wheel drive
    - Comfortable room for 4 people on a road trip
    - Able to tow 2 ATV's...w/ trailer (or if it were a truck i'd use a rack in the bed for both)
    - exceptable gas mileage (my standards = no less than 14-15mpg when not towing)

I was looking at some crew cab mid-size pickups (tacoma, colorado, frontiers) but i'm not sure if there is adequate room for 4 people on a long road trip

Anyways, what vehicle would you recommends that best meets the above criteria

    • ANSWER:
I've never been in a truck that was comfy enough for 4 people. I guess that would also depend on how long the trip was. Ideally a Dodge Mega Cab would do it. But they really are gas guzzlers even if it's the 1/2 ton Ram 1500. You may be able to get that 14-15 mpg if you get the 4x2, but you did say you wanted a 4x4. All I can say about that is go look at one. They will be higher in price than a Tacoma, Colorado, Canyon, or Frontier. You might consider finding a used one though. Plenty of them out there w/ people cutting back & getting eco-friendly cars. G'luck!

  49. QUESTION:
"Leaf Rack" for a 99 Mazda Pickup?
There is a rack or clamp that holds the leaf springs to what I would assume is the bed of my truck...it's rusted and snapped and twisted everywhere. I went to AutoZone to buy the part but even after looking at it they didn't seem to know what its actually called and told me to go to a dealer....which i dont want to do. So does anyone know what this thing is called?
    thank you. :]

  50. QUESTION:
Hitch Rack for Adult Tricycle. Who sells them?
My mom owns an adult tricycle, and my dad owns a hybrid bicycle. They're both recently retired and are planning a big cross country trip using their truck and trailer. I don't know what the proper name of the trailer is, but the inside of it looks similar to the inside of an rv and attaches to the bed of the truck using a hitch.

Anyhow, They want to take their bikes with them for casual riding on the trip, but can't figure out a method of how to do it because of the tricycle. Obviously, They can't put it in the bed of the truck because that's where the trailer hitch connects to the truck. They can't put it inside the trailer because there isn't enough room when the sides are collapsed in. And putting it up on top of either of the trailer or the truck cab would be silly, not to mention way too much work. Short of my mom learning to ride a bicycle, which she says will never happen, they seem to be pretty much screwed.

What I think their best bet would be, is to install a hitch on the rear of the trailer and connect a rack onto the hitch, then put the bikes onto the rack. Problem is, Who sells hitches for adult tricycles? I'm trying to find a reliable solution for them so they can enjoy their bikes on the trip, but I'm starting to run short on ideas.

Anybody else run into this kind of problem? What did you do about it?
Anybody else got any other solutions that might work?

    • ANSWER:
They make a rack for trikes. They also make platforms that attach to the bumber of a trailer.
